2021 Schedule and Rules

Femdom Exchange is a fic and art exchange focused on relationships where at least one member of the pairing identifies as female and takes a dominant role in the relationship.

Below you will find all relevant information and links for the 2021 Femdom Exchange. 

Rules are the same as last year. Schedule is roughly the same, but pushed back a week.

Nominations open: August 28
Nominations close: September 7
Signups open by: September 9
Signups close: September 19

Keep in mind that Daylight Savings Time ends on November 1st. For the sake of consistency, deadlines will remain at 11:59 UTC-7. So if you live in a place that observes Daylight Savings, the deadlines will be an hour earlier after November 1st. 

Rules

Nominations 

• Participants are able to nominate up to 10 fandoms, with up to 10 relationships each.
• Fandoms and relationships of any size are eligible for nomination.
• Relationships must contain at least one member that a) identifies as female and b) takes a dominant role in the relationship.
• Important: In order to get the dom/sub configuration you prefer, you will need to nominate relationships in the following fashion: "Hermione Granger doms Luna Lovegood." For the sake of consistency, F/m relationships will also need to be nominated in this fashion (e.g. "Hermione Granger doms Harry Potter"). If you do not format your nominations in this way (or if you write in a male character as dom) they will not be accepted.
• F/m, F/f, and threesomes/moresomes (F/m/m, F/f/f, F/F/m, etc.) are all eligible for nomination. Threesomes/moresomes can be nominated as: "Hermione Granger & Luna Lovegood dom Harry Potter" or "Hermione Granger doms Luna Lovegood & Harry Potter," and so on if there are more characters involved. Please note that male doms won't be accepted even if there is already a female dom involved (so "Hermione Granger & Harry Potter dom Luna Lovegood" would not be accepted).
• Original works are eligible for nomination. Please specify gender and role when nominating original relationships. For example: Female Sorceress doms Female Apprentice. Please use the format [Gender A] [Character Type A] doms [Gender B] [Character Type B], as in the example.
• RPF is eligible, provided that they are famous in their own right (e.g. non-famous family members of celebrities are not eligible) and at least 18 years old.
• Crossover ships are eligible. Please nominate them under "Crossover Fandom" with the respective fandoms in parentheses after the character names. For example: "Lorraine Broughton (Atomic Blonde) doms Natasha Romanov (Marvel Cinematic Universe)."

 

Sign-ups 

• Participants can request 3-10 fandoms with 1-10 relationships each. Fandoms can be requested more than once, however, you must have at least 3 unique fandoms in your requests before you can repeat fandoms. If you do not request at least 3 unique fandoms by the time signups close, your signup will be deleted. You have the choice of requesting fanfiction, fanart, or both for each request.
• Participants can offer 3-10 fandoms with 1-10 relationships each. Fandoms can be offered more than once, however, you must offer at least 3 unique fandoms before you can repeat fandoms. If you do not offer at least 3 unique fandoms by the time signups close, your signup will be deleted. You have the choice of offering fanfiction, fanart, or both for each offer.
• Characters are not required to have a concrete identity as a sub or dom. It is sufficient for them to take a more dominant or submissive role within the context of the story. Mild D/s and D/s undertones are fine to request.
• You can request or offer to create works of T, M, or E rating (or any combination of them). For the purposes of this exchange, seeing as AO3 does not have concrete guidelines for what kinds of content qualify for each rating, the ratings will be defined as follows:
  • T: Nonsexual D/s dynamics or relationships, kissing or making out. Same goes for art.
  • M: "Fade to black" sex, D/s relationships/dynamics that are sexual or nonsexual, but if sexual the sex itself is either fade to black or only very briefly described. For art, exposed breasts/chests or lingerie.
  • E: Any works that contain explicit smut. For art, anything that displays genitalia or sexual fluids. 
  • If you are confused or unsure what rating your request or work should be labeled as, you can contact me to ask.
  • If you are only interested in writing smut/explicit works, please only offer the E rating! If you are only interested in receiving smut/explicit works, please only request the E rating! Same goes for if you only want non-explicit content; please only request/offer T and/or M depending on your preferences. If you're okay with receiving/writing any level of explicitness, you can request/offer all three ratings. You can of course request/offer different ratings for different fandoms/relationships (e.g. you can offer "rating: E, fandom: Harry Potter, relationships: Hermione Granger doms Harry Potter, Hermione Granger doms Luna Lovegood" and, in another offer, offer "rating: T, fandom: Harry Potter, relationships: Hermione Granger doms Ron Weasley" if you're only interested in creating explicit works for Hermione Granger doms Harry Potter and Hermione Granger doms Luna Lovegood, but only interested in creating non-explicit works for Hermione Granger doms Ron Weasley.
• DNWs must be included in your signups in order to be enforced. All other details included in your signup are optional.
• Dear Creator letters may be linked, but they are optional. DNWs that are only present in a Dear Creator letter and not in the signup itself cannot be enforced.
• Participants with no requests matching their offers will be contacted by the mod and given 48 hours to offer another fandom in order for matching to run again. If no additional fandom is added, your signup will be deleted.
• Participants with no offers matching their requests will become initial pinch hits. Pinch hits will be posted to the Dreamwidth Community.
• You need an AO3 account to sign up and participate in the exchange. If you are in need of an invitation to make an account, email the mod at femdomexchangemod@gmail.com and you will be provided with one.

 

Assignments 

• Matching will run on fandom, relationship, rating (T, M, or E), and medium.
• The minimum requirement for fanfiction is 500 words. The minimum requirement for art is a clean sketch on unlined paper, involving all characters in the requested relationship. Manips or other edits are not eligible for art; it must be original art created by you.
• Works must stand on their own and be complete (e.g. you cannot submit the first chapter of a fic as your assignment.
• Your assignment should not contain any of the recipient's DNWs and must focus on one of the relationships the recipient requested.
• If, past the deadline, I notice that your work doesn't meet the minimum requirements, hits one of your recip's DNWs, or is not one about one of your recip's requested pairings, I will contact you with the opportunity to change it. If you are unable to edit the work to meet the requirements before reveals, the assignment will become a pinch hit.
• Please do not discuss your work in any public spaces before reveals (this includes Discord servers). You may, of course, share it with a beta reader.
• Your work must be made specifically for this exchange; you cannot repost something you have already posted on AO3 or elsewhere for your assignment.

 

Pinch Hits 

• Pinch hits will be posted to the Dreamwidth Community.
• You do not need to be signed up to the exchange to claim a pinch hit. The only requirement is that you must have an archiveofourown account.
• To claim a pinch hit, comment on the post on the Dreamwidth community. The mod will contact you if you are successful, and assign the assignment to you on archiveofourown.

 

Treats 

• If you're unfamiliar or new to exchanges, treats are additional works that some people choose to gift to a participant alongside their main gift.
• Treats are accepted and encouraged for this exchange! You do not need to be signed up to the exchange to gift a treat (but you do need an AO3 account).
• Treats are not subject to the minimum requirements for works.
• In the case of pinch hits, treats that fit the minimum requirements will not automatically become the main gift; however, if you are a pinch hit, you may choose to contact me if you're okay with a treat becoming your main gift and I'll allow it in that situation.
• Treats should still respect the recipients DNWs and focus on the requested relationship, just like a normal assignment.
• You may gift a treat to the collection if you would like to write a femdom fic that isn't for a specific participant.  

 

Defaulting 

• You may default at any time with no penalty and do not need to provide an explanation. That said, if you feel you will not be able to complete your assignment, please default as soon as possible. If you default, the assignment that was assigned to you will become a pinch hit.
• If you do not submit a work at the deadline without defaulting, the assignment that was assigned to you will become a pinch hit and you will be banned from participating in the next round of this exchange.
• If you default and your creator also defaults, you will not receive a gift.
• There will be no time extensions past the deadline, except in the case of outstanding pinch hits.
